What to do When Your Sewer Backs Up

A sewer back up will occur most often during rain season when there is great amount of water and sewage flowing into the sewer, causing the sewage system to overload. You may also experience sewer backs up from the invasion of tree roots, flushing disposable diapers or from the sewer pipes collapsing.

What do you do when this occurs?

  1. Check your basement frequently and relocate belongings if needed
  2. Call a sewer cleaner to come to your home and evaluate the problem which may result in a cleaning process using a “snake” or camera inspection
  3. If the problem continues you should call a Licensed Master Plumber as there is a good chance of a crack or break in your sewer line.
